Co-founder of global payments company Stripe, John Collison, was the special guest at County Kildare Chamber business lunch on Friday.

The event brought together more than 250 members of the business community for a discussion focused on entrepreneurship, global growth and the value of staying connected to local roots.

The lunch was delivered in partnership with Straffan GAA, who worked closely with the Chamber to make the event a success.

John Collison shared his journey from County Limerick to co-founding Stripe, now one of the world’s leading fintech companies. He spoke about the early days of the business, lessons learned along the way and the importance of embracing innovation.

Chamber CEO Sinéad Ronan addressed the audience, noting: “In the current economic climate, our international connections are more important than ever.

"Events like this remind us of the potential that exists here in Ireland and the value of learning from those who have built businesses on a global scale. The Chamber is here to support our members, advocate on their behalf and open doors to new opportunities.”

John Collison, Owner of Weston Airport said: “It was fantastic to meet with leaders from across the county at the Kildare Chamber’s business lunch.

"Kildare is home to a thriving business ecosystem and a vibrant local community; I’ve long been a regular visitor and now get even more reason to do so with Weston Airport.

"2025 is hugely important and exciting for Weston, and with Coast Guard Search and Rescue operations due to begin from the airport on July 1st, we’re working tirelessly with all stakeholders in preparation.”

The Chamber also thanked the team at the K Club for their support and the high level of service provided throughout the event.

This Business Lunch is part of the Chamber’s ongoing programme of events aimed at supporting business growth, fostering strong networks and encouraging ambition across the county.
