A local councillor has claimed that cars are entering into one specific Kildare region "too hard".

Fianna Fáil Cllr Veralouise Behan expressed her concerns at the latest Athy Municipal District meeting, which was held yesterday (April 14 last).

She asked Kildare County Council (KCC) to confirm if it had plans "to carry out a safety review of Walterstown Cross in Nurney", as "lots of cars are coming into Nurney too hard".

KCC said in response to her query that it had no plans to carry out a safety review in the region.

"This is a 60km road," KCC added. "The current signage is above the regulatory requirements."
