The 40 metre stack
A new 130 feet high chimney-type structure dominates the skyline on the Dublin side of Naas.
Specialised lifting machinery was deployed recently to help erect the stack, which is adjacent to QK Cold Stores at Maudlins, off the Dublin Road, and hoist it into place.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency which licences some of the activities at Arrow Group Limited the new stack relates to the modification of two existing boiler emission stacks, which were also licensed.
According to the EPA, two stacks have effectively been amalgamated into one dual emission stack.
This provision was included in the licence review for Arrow.
Arrow Group Limited is based at Maudlins Industrial Estate and includes the activities of a number of associated food manufacturing enterprises, including Dawn Farm Foods Ltd and QK Cold Stores.
The EPA also said there are revised emission limit values outlined in the revised licence to account for this infrastructural change.
The stack has a height of 40 metres, a diameter of almost a metre and has lighting at its apex.
The EPA says that planning permission “was not applicable to the change of infrastructure.”
The company was contacted for comment.
