Local Fianna Fail Minister James Lawless TD is urging people to sign up for the new free alert scheme being used by Kildare County Council which allows subscribers receive important messages directly to the phones or by way of text or email.
Deputy Lawless said: “This new free service is very welcome, and I would recommend signing up to the service which will notify you on important information announcements from the council including for instance weather alerts in the county, road closures that are happening in your area and constructions/repair works occurring locally.
“It is now possible to sign up to www.mapalerter.ie or download the Mapalerter app to receive localised alerts via text, email, and app notifications from Kildare County Council. There is a sign-up link on the website where you can set up your free Mapalerter account and pinpoint your location to ensure the alerts you receive are always relevant to you.”
He concluded: “Kildare is now one over 20 Local Authorities that are now using this alert the service allowing people the ability to stay informed on their phones and stay safe with relevant local alerts about water disruptions, boil water notices, road works/diversions, severe weather and other topics that impact you. You will also get alerts for planning activity in your area.”
