Plans have been granted to Aldi Stores (Ireland) Limited for a €576k extension to an Aldi store on Newbridge Road, Jigginstown Park, Naas West, Naas, Co Kildare.
According to Construction Information Services (CIS), as of May 8 2025, works are yet to commence on site.
CIS reports that on July 17 2024 an appeal was lodged with An Bord Pleanála against Kildare County Council's decision to grant planning permission for a single storey extension to the southern elevation of the existing Aldi store.
This was to accommodate reconfiguration of the existing store layout comprising relocation of the warehouse/storage area to the rear of the extension and replacement of the previous warehouse area with an extended retail area.
This would result in a reconfigured store comprising 1,693 sqm gross floor area (1,147 sqm net retail floor area [850 sq. m permitted]) as well as the provision of a deposit return scheme room.
The proposals also include alterations to the car park area and layout consisting relocation of seven car parking spaces from the southern boundary to the eastern boundary resulting in a net loss of 13 car parking spaces (85 existing, 72 proposed); installation of four EV charging parking spaces; minor infrastructural upgrades; and all associated works to facilitate the development. (An Bord Pleanála Ref: 320199)
The architect for the project is Arthur Gibney and Partners.
