Garda Ciaran O'Keeffe told the court that the defendant had owned the vehicle for a year.
The court heard that the defendant had a previous conviction for drink driving.
The garda also said the defendant had cooperated fully when he was stopped on October 29, 2024, at Oldbridge Station, Naas.
The defendant produced a driving licence but he had been disqualified from driving.
Solicitor David Powderly said the defendant has four children and he supports them.
He also said that the defendant was working on a haphazard basis.
Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed custody terms amounting to eight months and disqualified the defendant from driving for six years.
