Local Fianna Fáil Minister, James Lawless TD has welcomed the announcement of an approximate €100k government spend on social enterprises in Kildare.
The announcement came on Tuesday (May 20) from the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary, TD, and the Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development, Jerry Buttimer, TD of a €4 million investment to support social enterprises nationwide.
Minister Lawless said: “The fund provides grant supports to assist social enterprises to achieve their key objectives. The funding provided will be used for building works, repairs, refurbishments, or for the purchase of new machinery, vehicles, or equipment.
“The Dormant Accounts Funding available to the Department for Rural and Community Development was specifically designed to meet the varied needs of these organisations. The funding announced today is evidence of the government’s continuing support for this important sector.
“This funding will directly benefit 126 organisations around the country.”
Minister Lawless said the social enterprises to benefit under the scheme in Kildare are as follows:
Breaking Through CLG, Leixlip, Co. Kildare - received funding of €4,975.00 to fund the upgrading and modernising of the organisation's website, to strengthen security, reduce risk of hacking, and improve speed through hosting and caching.
Sensational Kids CLG, Kildare - received funding of €30,025.38 to fund the upgrade of equipment that will enhance their ability to deliver impactful, affordable therapy services for children with additional needs.
County Kildare Community Network Company CLG, Kildare - received funding of €60,718.12 to fund the building upgrade and enhancement works necessary to create a sustainable enterprise stream of a Paint Reuse Hub, providing employment and delivering sustainable solutions to the community.
This brings a total of €95,718.50 investment for Kildare social enterprises.
