The Naas Roads Policing Unit #NaasRPU recently conducted a speed check on the R445 at Littleconnell, Co. Kildare, where the speed limit is 80 km/h.

Numerous motorists were detected exceeding the limit.

These included: 144 km/h in an 80 km/h zone; 117 km/h in an 80 km/h zone; 113 km/h in an 80 km/h zone; and 111 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

FCPNs (Fixed Charge Penalty Notices) were issued by gardai, including €160 fines and three penalty points for each of the drivers.

An Garda Síochána reminds motorists that speed is a major contributory factor in road traffic collisions.
