Gardai stated: “Driving under the influence has far-reaching and life-changing consequences. We must never become complacent when it comes to road safety.
“Intoxicated driving significantly raises the risk of collisions, serious injuries, and fatalities.”
Gardai continued: “The penalties for drink and drug driving are severe and include:
"Disqualification from driving for a period ranging from 1 to 6 years;
"Fines of up to €5,000;
"Imprisonment for up to six months.
"Don’t risk your life - or the lives of others. Never drive under the influence.”
