A woman with obvious bruising around her eye sought protection under family law legislation at a Naas District Court sitting.
She told Judge Desmond Zaidan she does not live with her ex-partner who allegedly “slapped and punched” her.

The partner was not present or represented at the hearing.
She also said she had subsequently attended a doctor in St James’s Hospital.
Judge Zaidan said he was sorry that had happened to her and added “seeing a human being like that is horrible and this should not happen."
He adjourned the case to October 13 for a further hearing.
He told the woman that if she was living with the man he would grant her a barring order, which would require the partner to leave the home.
