Kildare County Council has announced the initiation of a pre-draft consultation for the new Heritage Plan (2025-2031.)

This plan aims to deepen understanding of Kildare’s heritage and promote best practices in its conservation and management.

Heritage includes a wide range of elements from the past that merits preserving for future generations, such as inherited traditions, historic monuments, objects and culture.

As the first step in developing this plan, the people of Kildare are invited to share their thoughts on what heritage means to them and how we can work together to protect it.

Submissions are being sought from the public to help guide this process. A discussion paper has been prepared to help refine our understanding of “heritage” and set the scene for further discussions.

Kildare County Council will be hosting public information sessions in each of the Municipal Districts, including an online session, to engage as widely as possible with the people of Kildare.

The submissions received will be reviewed by the Kildare Heritage Forum for inclusion in the draft Heritage Plan.
