A football club located in County Kildare is seeking planning permission for the provision of a brand-new all-weather football pitch.

Rathangan Football Club (FC) is seeking to construct the pitch on its grounds on the Canal Road in Rathangan, a planning permission application with Kildare County Council (KCC) shows.

At present, Rathangan FC has two private grass pitches.

According to the application, the club is also seeking to include the following features alongside the proposed new pitch: the provision of ancillary fencing and four 12 metre floodlights; the erection of six 15m floodlights to the existing grass pitch; the realignment of existing walking track; and all associated site works.

In addition, Rathangan FC is seeking permission for the "existing prefabricated building, comprising of changing rooms, meeting room, toilets and store rooms, and all associated site works".

The date received is listed as June 17 last, while the submission by and due dates are listed as July 21, 2025 and August 11, 2025 respectively.

According to Rathangan FC's website, it was established in 1994.

It also says on its website that it currently has 18 teams, including three underage girls teams, playing in the Kildare District Football League and the Kildare and District Underage League.

The club also says that it has a Junior Academy for boys and girls aged between four and seven years of age.
