A "neighbourhood centre" development, which would include medical units, a takeaway and a coffee shop, has been proposed for one County Kildare region.

A new planning permission application currently with Kildare County Council (KCC) shows that one Andrew Cross is seeking to set up the development at Piercetown, Station Road in Newbridge.

The site for the development was previously proposed by Mr Cross back in 2022, and was granted planning permission by KCC the following year.

The description of the latest application notes that Mr Cross is seeking permission from KCC for a single-storey and two-storey development, which would consisting of:

  • One convenience store with ancillary off-license use complete with a coffee shop, delicatessen, toilets and associated works at ground floor level
  • Three retail units and one takeaway unit at ground floor level
  • Two medical units and two retail units at first floor level, and;
  • Car parking, boundary treatments, signage, bin storage, new site entrance / exit, landscaping and all associated site development works.

The date received on the application is listed as June 24 last.

The submission-by and due dates on the application are listed as July 28, 2025, and August 18, 2025, respectively.
