Gardaí have issued crime prevention advice following a spate of thefts from cars at the weekend.
Gardaí are investigating a number of thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Edenderry area on the Kildare border during the early hours of last weekend.
“Unfortunately, this continues a trend we are seeing across the region, where vehicles are being left unlocked overnight, making them an easy target for opportunistic criminals.
We are again urging residents to lock all vehicles, remove valuables, and remain vigilant,” Laois/Offaly Gardaí said.
“Our simple message remains unchanged. Lock it or lose it, remove all property, especially electronics and cash, park in well-lit or secure areas where possible and check any CCTV or doorbell footage and report suspicious activity.
“We understand that many may feel “it won’t happen to me,” but unfortunately, it can—and does. Criminals are exploiting complacency, often going street to street, trying door handles.
If you haven’t already, please share this message with neighbours, friends, and community groups. Community awareness and preventative action are our strongest defence.

They urged people to report suspicious activity to their local garda station or a Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
