A Kildare motorist travelling on the R402 in North Kildare was recently detected driving at almost 40km/h over the 80km/h speed limit.
Naas Roads Policing Unit recently conducted a speed check on the R402 as part of ongoing efforts to reduce speeding and dangerous driving.

As gardai were conducting the speed check, a motorist was detected travelling at 117km/h in an 80km/h zone.
Upon being stopped, it was discovered the driver was an unaccompanied learner permit holder with no 'L' plates displayed.
The vehicle was seized, and the driver received Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) of €440 and three penalty points.
