Construction of 29 new homes as part of a development of almost 400 homes at the former Magee Barracks site in Kildare.

The overall project spanning an 11 hectare site has an estimated construction value of €60m.

Planning permission was granted to Dublin-based Ballymount Properties Ltd for 375 new homes and a creche.

This included the demolition of 17 buildings including a range of former barracks buildings, the Officers’ Mess building and a water tower structure.

Also in the designs is a neighbourhood centre comprising of three shop units, a café and gallery and a two-storey creche.

Magee Barracks was the site of a British Army barracks since the early 1900s and subsequently was a depot for Garda Síochana in the 1920s.
