On Monday, June 30 Naas Gardaí stopped a Kildare motorist for using a mobile phone while driving, but that was only the beginning of the offences detected.
Once stopped, gardaí discovered the driver had a learner permit; was not displaying 'L' plates; was driving unaccompanied; and was driving on the motorway, which learner drivers are not allowed to use.

Naas Gardaí seized the driver's vehicle on the spot, with the unfortunate learner driver now heading towards seven penalty points – which triggers a six-month disqualification for learner drivers.
A statement on An Garda Síochána's Facebook page read: “Let this be a reminder: Learner rules exist for a reason. Know them. Follow them. Stay safe.
