Gardaí have released a witness appeal following a "serious injury traffic collision" which occurred near the Kildare-Wicklow border over the weekend.

According to a garda spokesperson, the collision occurred on the N81 near Blessington, County Wicklow on Sunday, June 29 last.

The spokesperson elaborated: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision involving two motor vehicles on the N81 at Tinode, Blessington, County Wicklow on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at approximately 11.30pm.

"One female driver, aged in her 60s was seriously injured and removed from the scene. She remains in a serious condition at Tallaght University Hospital.

"The second driver, a male aged in his 20s was not injured.

"A technical examination of the scene was conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators."

Today (July 2), the spokesperson said that gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Specifically, they are appealing for road users who were travelling on this particular stretch of the N81 near Blessington between 11.15pm and 11.45pm, and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), to make the footage available to investigating Gardaí.

The spokesperson added: "Anyone with information is asked to contact Baltinglass Garda Station on 059 6482 610, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
