If you are a fan of animals, then you have likely found yourself in a situation where you want to take a photograph of one of the various denizens that we are privileged to share this Earth with.
Well, if you are a fan of both photography and animals, you may just be in luck, as Kildare Wildlife Rescue is now accepting submissions for its 2026 calendar.
Kildare Wildlife Rescue said in a post on its official Facebook account: "Our photo competition for our 2026 Native Wildlife Calendar is now open for entries, we can’t believe it’s that time already!"
The organisation also outlined the criteria for the submissions: "Submitted photographs must have been taken in Ireland and feature native Irish wildlife; no photos of nests or invasive species are permitted.
"Please respect the welfare of the animals and avoid disturbing them while taking pictures."

"Photos should be in landscape digital format, with a minimum resolution of 2400 x 3000 pixels.
"The file must be saved with your name and the county the picture was taken in. Previous entries, if they didn’t win, can be resubmitted and multiple submissions are welcome.
"Copyright will remain with the photographer, but by entering, they grant KWR a license to use the image in printed media, social media, on our website, and in promotional material.
"Credit will always be given when used."
In addition, Kildare Wildlife Rescue said that an optional entry fee can be paid via its SumUp store.
Entries are to be sent to kwrcompetition@gmail.com by August 31, 2025.
The organisation also recently released an appeal for donations of free range eggs for its patients.
According to Kildare Wildlife Rescue: "Eggs can be dropped into the centre in Kildare town between 9am and 8pm, seven days a week."
