Kildare/Carlow Gardaí conduct day of action targeting uninsured drivers

Kildare/Carlow Gardaí recently participated in a National Day of Action focused on detecting and deterring motorists driving without insurance.

Traffic offences detected included:

11 vehicles were detained for multiple offences:

  • No insurance;

  • Unaccompanied learner driver;

  • NCT expired — vehicle found in a dangerous condition with two bald tyres;

  • E-scooter seized from a 15-year-old male found committing four separate offences.

Arrests:

1 disqualified driver was arrested and charged;

1 uninsured drunk driver was arrested in Newbridge;

28 FCPNs (Fixed Charge Penalty Notices) were issued for various road traffic offences including speeding and holding a mobile phone while driving.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána Kildare stated: “Driving without insurance is unacceptable. We are now equipped with a live insurance verification app and we will continue to detect and seize vehicles operating illegally on our roads.”
