A mother from County Kildare is planning a "Warrior's Run" to thank a charity that helped her chronically ill daughter.

Lucina Dack will run the Warrior's Run in Strandhill later this month to raise funds for Barretstown — an organisation that provide residential camps and programmes for children and their families who are affected by serious illnesses.

According to Lucina, the charity that Lucinda helped her daughter, Aoife, "rediscover joy after a life-changing diagnosis".

She explained that Aoife lives with chronic conditions that affect her mobility and leave her in daily pain.

As a result, Aoife was forced to give up football, and this devastated her.

Fortunately, everything changed when she attended a Barretstown camp, an experience Lucina described as "life-turning".

Lucina said that the whole family also attended the camp and were "wrapped up in love, care and support" for the weekend.

Now, Lucina wants to give back to Barretstown carrying out the run.

"Every cent counts," she said. "I really want to give back."

Those who want to donate to the fundraiser, which has a €1,100 goal, can do so by visiting the official GoFundMe page.
