A university based in North Kildare has explained the reason behind its current student accommodation rates.
KFM reported yesterday (August 11 last) that Maynooth University (MU) is charging up to €6,353 for student accommodation ahead of the 2025/26 academic year.
According to the article, the maximum price of €6,353 is for a single room with an ensuite bathroom, located in River, Rye Hall and Courtyard, while for the minimum price, it is charging is €4,761 for a single room with shared bathrooms, located in Rye Hall and Village.
When asked by the Leinster Leader about its current rates, a spokesperson for MU responded: "At Maynooth University, compared to last year, there has been a slight increase in cost, at the lower end from €4,668 to €4,761 and from €6,229 to €6,353 at the upper end.
"This is a 1.99 per cent increase in costs," the spokesperson added. "These cost increases are limited to 2.0 per cent, which is below the rate of inflation and the University's increased running costs."
