A potential disaster was prevented by Naas Roads Policing Unit (#NaasRPU) this week in Kildare, when gardai stopped a truck during a joint night-time operation on the N7 with RSA enforcement officers.
As well as multiple offences being detected from other motorists, gardai stopped one laden articulated truck which had dangerously loose wheel nuts on its drive axle.
The truck also had defective tyres.

The vehicle was impounded after further checks revealed it was not properly maintained.
A garda statement stated: “Reminder for drivers: Carry out proper daily walk-around checks before starting your journey.
“Reminder for owners: Ensure your vehicles are properly maintained and safe for the road.
“If this HGV had not been stopped, the wheel could have come off on the busy N7, posing a serious risk to other road users.”
“Proceedings are to follow. #RoadSafety #RSA #Naas #N7 #GardaTraffic.”
