A number of condolence messages have been posted online in memory of a former County Kildare school principal.

The late Pat (Paddy) O'Mahony was a former principal of Newbridge College.

He passed away peacefully following a short illness.

Anne-Marie O'Connor and the staff at St Conleth's Infant School were among those who paid tribute to the late Pat on RIP.ie.

They said: "Sincere condolences to Mary, Olan, Hannah and the entire O'Mahony family on the very sad passing of dear Pat.

"We worked closely with Pat during his term as chairperson of St Conleth and Mary's.

"During that time, the school benefitted greatly from Pat's knowledge, expertise and passion for education."

They continued: "He was so knowledgeable, caring and generous with his time and expertise.

"Pat really did make a difference. Thinking of his family & friends at this very difficult time."

They concluded: "May Pat rest in eternal peace."

One former student, Damien O'Riordan, said about the late Pat: "Condolences to Pat's family. He was a lovely man and excellent principle."

One user on RIP.ie, Willie Hannon, also said: "Pat’s work in the Athgarvan community was immense, particularly with Athgarvan GAA.

"His hard work, wise counsel and dedication were vital to the rebirth of the club.

"He will be a huge loss as a guiding light for us all."

Mr Hannon concluded: "Rest in Peace Pat sincere sympathy to all the family and many friends."

Lastly, another past pupil, Céin Dempsey, said about the late Pat: "Sincere condolences to the O'Mahony family on the passing of Pat.

"I remember him fondly as the Principal of Newbridge College; he was always very approachable and kind."

He concluded: "A true professional; RIP."

Predeceased by his brother, John, his twin sister, Lucy and his sister-in-law, Bridie.

Pat passed peacefully after a short illness bravely borne, surrounded by his loving family in the wonderful care of staff at Curragh Lawns Nursing Home.

Deeply regretted by his devoted wife Mary, beloved son Olan, adored daughter Hannah, daughter-in-law Tracey, Hannah's partner Dave, his four beloved grandchildren, Iarla, Éabha, Lola and Poppy, his brothers, Dan, Michael and Frank, sister Nan, sisters-in-law Ann, Betty and Anne, brother-in-law Tom, nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends.

May Paddy Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Glennon's Funeral Home, 32 Main Street, Newbridge (W12 D863) from 4pm on Friday with Prayers at 7pm.

Removal by Glennon's Funeral Directors on Saturday morning to arrive at The Dominican College Church, Newbridge for Requiem Mass at 11 O'Clock.

Burial afterwards in St Conleth's Cemetery, Newbridge.

House private please.
