Young Kildare woman chops off her hair for charity

Caoimhe Gately before and after her long hair being chopped

After years of growing her hair, Newbridge Co Kildare native Caoimhe Gately has finally decided to cut it and donate it to the LauraLynn Foundation.

Her journey began on her Communion Day, when she promised herself, “I’m going to grow my hair really long so I can give it to other boys and girls.”

Since then, her hair has been an important part of her life—bringing both fun moments and challenges (like accidentally sitting on it or pulling it without meaning to). After putting off the big chop for years, Caoimhe feels now is the perfect time.

Caoimhe is taking part in Locks of Love for LauraLynn – Hair Donation Fundraiser, raising funds for LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. Every cent raised here will go directly to support this wonderful cause.

She would be so grateful for any contribution—big or small—as every donation makes a real difference. You can donate securely by clicking the Donate button above, or show your support by sharing her page with others.

Thank you so much for supporting Caoimhe and LauraLynn!
