A vehicle was detected travelling at 149km/h in a 120km/h zone during a recent garda speed check on the M7 at Mayfield, Co Kildare.

Upon stopping the motorist, further checks revealed they had: no tax or insurance for the vehicle; the driver was serving a two-year disqualification.

The driver also failed a roadside drugs test for cocaine.

The driver was then arrested and the vehicle seized.

The motorist was charged to appear in court, with FCPNs (Fixed-Charge Penalty Notices) issued for additional offences.

An Garda Síochána Kildare reminds all drivers: speeding, driving without insurance, or driving under the influence places lives at risk.
