Six patients were treated on trolleys at Naas Hospital, having come in via the accident and emergency department.

The most overcrowded hospital in the eastern region was St Vincent's, where there were 29 people on trolleys.

There were no patients on trolleys at Tallaght Hospital or at Tullamore Hospital.

The overcrowding figure for Portlaoise Hospital was five.
