Kildare County Council has been asked to act against businesses in Naas “to ensure compliance with the signage policy for retail buildings.”
Independent councillor Bill Clear said this should be done“ in light of the apparent disregard for this policy by certain business owners in Naas.”

He told a Naas Municipal District committee meeting that KCC should be more proactive.
“If we don’t nip it in the bud it will get out of control," he said.
He referenced vape shops, take away food premises phone shops and pizza retailers.
He added that most of the activity “is at one end (of the town).”
“This is detracting from the town. It's a historic town and it's getting destroyed bit by bit.”
According to KCC complaints made of alleged non-compliance are investigated by the planning enforcement team, and where appropriate, “the statutory process of issuing warning letters and enforcement notices is commenced.”
