Three founding members of a history group based in County Kildare will be honoured at an upcoming event.

The Curragh Local History Group (CLHG) will commemorate Reggie Darling, May O'Shea and Oliver McCrossan for their combined "vision, dedication and lasting contribution to preserving and sharing the unique heritage of The Curragh".

In addition, the CLHG said that the trio "laid the foundations" of the group's history.

Tea and sandwiches will be provided at this event.

The three founders will be celebrated at The Hospital Mess in The Curragh Camp East on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

It will run from 7pm until 9pm.

Information available on kildarelocalhistory.ie shows that the CLHG was established back in 1993.

According to the website, in 1995, the CLHG was involved in the restoration of the Clock Tower.

It also organised the Curragh Speed Festival in 1999, which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the International Wakefield car races, which were held in The Curragh between 1949 and 1954.

The group holds its meetings inside Suncroft Community Centre.
