Busy school on Kiladare / Wicklow border wants to expand

Blessington Educate Together National School on the Kildare / Wicklow border is planning a €904,300 school extension.

The planning application was lodged with Wicklow County Council.

The proposed scheme involves a significant addition to the existing 317 square metre school building, delivering a 595 square metre extension.

The works will provide two new classrooms for a special education unit, one additional mainstream classroom, and an extension to the staff room.

The project also includes six new car parking spaces, a vehicular set-down area, the removal of the existing modular accommodation units, and the creation of a secure external soft play area and sensory garden.

If approved, the project will provide a much-needed boost to facilities for both mainstream and special education students in the growing Blessington area.

The project is promoted by Blessington Educate Together National School and designed by McLoughlin Architecture, based in Co Kildare.
