Kildare heavy gusts cause trampoline chaos near Athy

An unsuspecting resident near Athy, Co Kildare awoke to a minor scene of destruction this morning, when they found their backyard trampoline had 'taken flight' and landed outside their front garden.

Met Eireann today warned of “fresh to strong and gusty winds”, along with coastal gales in the west, beginning to ease later, so that the Athy trampoline incident may not be isolated in nature!

Met Eireann's forecast for today was: “Windy today with widespread showers or longer spells of rain, some heavy with the chance of thunder, particularly in the north and northwest where spot flooding is possible.

“The showers and rain will gradually ease from the southwest through the afternoon with brighter conditions developing, along with just isolated showers. However, spells of rain will continue over Ulster.

“Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds, along with coastal gales in the west for a time, beginning to ease later.”

According to Met Eireann, tonight's forecast is mainly dry with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees are expected in moderate to fresh westerly winds.

A dry and bright start to the day thankfully awaits us tomorrow. Cloud is expected to build from the southwest through the afternoon with outbreaks of rain spreading northeastwards through the evening.

Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds.
