Kildare County Council has indicated it’s taking court action over an encampment.
Naas mayor Seamie Moore wants KCC to explain why “it has allowed the movement of a number of mobile homes and caravans into its Sallins/Osberstown Aqueduct compound.”

The independent councillor claimed that KCC had previously made a commitment to secure the site “from such unofficial intrusions.”
At a Naas Municipal District committee meeting, Cllr Moore sought a statement from KCC “on reports of the future use of this compound as a new halting site.”
According to KCC, a court order was issued on July 31, directing the occupants to vacate the site within 48 hours.
The order was served on August 7.
KCC’s legal representatives “are currently preparing the necessary documentation to initiate an application for attachment and committal.”
However, “due to the annual court recess during August and September, the application cannot be submitted until the courts resume full operations in October."
KCC also said the site in question is a pumping station and it has no other proposals for the use of the site.
