Noisy trucks are annoying Kildare residents at 5am

Suggested measures to tackle noise created by passing vehicles in this Kildare village can't be undertaken.

Cllr Fintan Brett asked Kildare County Council "change the ramp to a raised platform" on the Punchestown Road at Johnstown.

He wanted this done to alleviate noise pollution in the adjoining cottages.

He said trucks being driven on the road at 5am make noise going over the ramp and something is needed to slow the vehicles down.

But KCC replied that "due to limited resources at this time" the work cannot be done.

However it "may be considered in the 2026 programme, subject to budget availability.

KCC engineer Dónal Hodgins told a Naas Municipal District committee meeting that there is a lack of personnel as well as finance.
