BREAKING: Kildare's newest restaurant opens to the public next week

The Stables, Poplar Square, Naas

A new restaurant will be unveiled next week in Naas.

The Stables is located at Poplar Square and it’s owned by Nick Courtney, a native of Cashel, County Tipperary, with his wife Jeanne. The new enterprise has been renovated.

The owner is promising a “simple, flavoursome and affordable" menu created with as much locally provided produce as possible.

He comes to the venue with considerable experience, having started out  at the Cashel Palace Hotel in south Tipperary. Nick also worked as a sous chef at the five star K Club in Straffan and the Merrion Hotel, also a five star venue.

More recently he launched Morilles Bistro, which is part of The Yellow House, the landmark two centuries old premises in Rathfarnham, Dublin.

He’s also associated with Morilles Coffee, which operates out of a number of locations across Dublin.

The Stables, says Nick, will initially open on Friday next (September 26) and will be run on a seven-days-a-week basis as soon as possible.

It will also be open for lunch in about three weeks.

Apart from the restaurant setting, there will also be bar menu

The premises was formerly known as Butt Mullins, which was a cornerstone of the social and cultural life of Naas for 36 years.

Jeanne and Nick own the premises, which was sold at public auction for €855,000, which exceeded the guide price, by Jordan Auctioneers of Newbridge, in early July.

According to the sales brochure, the 3,461 sq.ft. premises included an open-plan dining area, conservatory, bar, full kitchen, and patio seating for over 20 guests.
