Andrew Walsh will be taking on the Whistler UTMB 100km ultramarathon, a race with over 5,000 metres of elevation gain, on September 27 of this year.

The Kildare man is doing so to raise funds for the fight against cancer, which he calls a very personal cause to him and has already raised €2,774 from 85 donations.

On his donation page, Andrew said: "Earlier this year, I lost my godfather, Colm, to cancer. I’ll be running this race in his memory, carrying him with me every step of the way.

"This run is also for my Grandfather and Margaret, who were both taken by cancer, and for everyone whose lives have been touched by this disease."

All funds raised will go directly to the Irish Cancer Society, helping provide vital support, resources, and hope to people and families affected by cancer.
