Rathcoffey long-serving Sean Moriarty (57) solo's clear of Brian Gilory during the Reserve F Final against Ballymore Eustace
While Ballymore Eustace finished as deserved Osprey Hotel & Spa Kildare Reserve Football F Championship winners, Rathcoffey legend Sean Moriarty rightly commanded some attention as he played the vast majority of this final.
Moriarty played 51 of the 60 played minutes and looked as good as any player that he lined out alongside in a fine performance from centre-back. Another part of the starting XV was Matthew Moriarty at corner-back, his son.
The veteran spoke to the Leinster Leader as part of the Love of the Game series in late 2024 and said, “I was 16 when I started to play with the second team in 1985 and then 17 with the first team the year after. I have been playing adult football for 40 years now,” Sean explained.
“I’d nearly be able to play with three generations in that time frame. I am getting close to playing with some lads’ grandfathers.”
