A nominated portion of Local Property Tax (LPT) funds will go towards a community group which operates in a County Kildare town.

The nomination was put forward by Social Democrats councillor Chris Pender at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, October 15 last.

He proposed for €3,000 to be redirected from the Samhain Newbridge initiative to Newbridge Community Development, which is a voluntary community organisation that aims to assist the local people within Newbridge (the group is also a registered charity).

Cllr Pender's nomination was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer.

It was heard at the meeting that the reallocation was being done in order to correct an administrative error.
