WATCH: Gardaí release shocking body-cam footage of violent protests near Kildare border

An Garda Síochána have released body-cam footage showing the violent and disorderly protests that have taken place at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin the past three nights.

In the video, protestors can be seeing throwing bricks and bottles at Gardaí while a person on horseback is seen wading through the crowds in an attempt to intimidate Gardaí.

Significant criminal damage has been caused since Monday evening, when hundreds of people gathered at the hotel in west Dublin after a 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by an African migrant who had received a deportation order in 2024.

Gardaí say there has been a significant impact to local community and services in the Saggart and Citywest area, particularly with public transport severely affected over the last two nights.

An investigation into these serious Public Disorder events, on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22, is ongoing and An Garda Síochána continues to review CCTV images and An Garda Síochána Body Worn Camera (BWC) footage with the intent to identify persons involved in identifiable criminal activity, in addition to carrying out Forensic examinations at a number of locations.

An Garda Síochána are appealing:

• To the public, in particular to young males; do not get involved in public disorder incidents. This is not fun and games and entertainment for social media. The choices and reckless decisions you may make, to get involved or caught up in these events may have serious consequences and adversely affect the course of your future.
• To persons with the ability to influence younger people (parents, family members, friends) or influence in the local community to engage with younger people and appeal for them not to get involved in this criminal activity.
• To any person with any information on persons involved in this serious public disorder to contact the Garda investigation team at Clondalkin Garda Station at 01 6667600 or any member of An Garda Síochána at any Garda Station.
