Kildare man who damaged apartment building was looking for his wife who was inside

A man who caused criminal damage to gate sensors was prosecuted at Naas District Court.

The man, aged in his 50s and with an address in the greater Naas area, was before the court for damaging the sensors at a local apartment complex in August 2022 as well as possessing cocaine on February 23, 2024, at Naas garda station.

Sgt Mary Meade said the defendant was highly intoxicated when the criminal damage was done.

The court heard that the defendant was looking for his wife at the time and she was inside the premises in her parents’ home.

The court was also told that the value of the criminal damage amounted to €1,400.

The defendant was fined a total of €2,000 for criminal damage in addition to €500 for possessing the drug.
