BREAKING: Kildare garda appeal as man's body found in local reservoir

Gardaí and emergency services attended at an incident at a house in Leixlip and a house fire was extinguished

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault at a house in Oaklawn West, Leixlip, and the discovery of a male body in the Leixlip Reservoir, Co. Kildare this morning, Monday 24th November 2025 shortly after 6:00am.
 
Gardaí and emergency services attended at an incident at a house in Oaklawn West and a residential fire was extinguished.
 
A female (aged in her 50s) was treated by emergency services and conveyed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for treatment of serious injuries.
 
The scene is being preserved for a technical examination.
 
The body of a male (aged in his 50s) was later recovered from the Leixlip Reservoir, Co. Kildare by the Garda Water Unit.
 
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed either incident to contact them.
 
Any persons who were in the areas of Oaklawn West, Leixlip, the N4 and the Leixlip Reservoir between 5:30am and 8:00am and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
