A garda based in County Kildare said that "a considerable sum" of money and tools were stolen from a van parked on the site of a well-known Kildare hotel.

The crime was highlighted by Garda Marc Connolly during a guest appearance on one of KFM's programmes which aired yesterday (December 3 last).

He explained to host Hannah Kelly that the incident took place on the evening of Thursday, November 27 last on the grounds of The Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge.

According to Gda Marc Connolly, the items were stolen from a Ford Transit van which was parked in the area at the time.

He also said: "Of interest to my [garda] colleagues is a 2012 dark blue Audi [vehicle] that had a male wearing a blue ski mask who was seen getting into that."

Gda Connolly concluded by urging anyone with information relating to this crime to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045 440 180.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this incident, a garda spokesperson responded: "Gardaí received [a] report of an incident of theft from a van that occurred at approximately 10pm on November 27 last in the Ballymany area of Newbridge, County Kildare."

The spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing.
