€20,000 worth of funds which were originally set aside for a restoration project have been redistributed to other Kildare causes.

Councillors representing the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District (MD) voted on the reallocated funds at the latest MD meeting, which took place on Friday, December 5 last.

The Mayor of the MD, Fine Gael Cllr Brendan Wyse, said at this meeting that the reallocations occurred because the Carbury Castle Restoration Project was not delivered in 2025.

AGREEMENT

Kildare County Council (KCC) requested for the councillors "to note the agreement of the majority of the elected members, in accordance with Condition 6 of the Local Property Tax Guidelines, the reallocation of €20,000 from the Carbury Castle Restoration Project to the MD's Christmas Lights and the [re]distribution of €17,000 of these funds".

Specifically, the €17,000 would be redistributed follows: €11,000 towards Maynooth Christmas Lights; €4,000 towards Kilcock Christmas Lights; €1,000 towards Newtown Christmas Lights; and a separate €1,000 for Straffan Christmas Lights.

The councillors for the MD voted to note the redistribution of these funds.
