A man cut the wires to a dishwasher and cut the plug of the tumble dryer so they couldn’t be used.

This was the claim that his wife made at a family law hearing in Naas District Court.

She has separated and they have three children and she claimed that she is not contributing enough to the household even though she gives up €1,200 a month leaving her with €2,000. She claimed her husband is a tradesman.

She also said that there was no heating or hot water for a week and those living there had to take cold showers because he had allegedly said they could not afford a new boiler to provide heating and warm water.

She said she could not afford to pay half the cost of a replacement boiler.

She further alleged he had taken the Sky box and the TV and has covered windows with black plastic bags.

She also claimed he had cut off the water supply for a week. The man wasn’t present or represented.

“It’s so petty,” commented Judge Desmond Zaidna, who granted an interim protection order and adjourned the case.
