A teenage girl came before Naas District Court following the theft of a number of items from stores at Kildare Village.

The court heard that the girl, who has an address in Maynooth, is sitting the Leaving Certificate exams and hopes to go to college after that.

Sgt Ruth Coleman told the court that the goods were taken from Benefit (valued at €326), Puma, Charlotte Tilbury, Rituals, and Calvin Klein.

The thefts took place on March 2 last.

The court further heard that all of the property was recovered in a saleable condition and the defendant had no previous convictions.

The defendant had the proceedings translated by a Russian interpreter.

Defending solicitor Chloe Donegan said she asked the defendant why she had done this and “she doesn’t have an answer.”

Ms Donegan said the defendant was with a “so-called friend” and she has not spoken to this person since the incident.

The court also heard the defendant had taken out €1,500 from money she was saving to use to go to college and she was offering this as a charitable donation.

Judge Zaidan accepted the donation and told the defendant she should focus on the Leaving Cert exams.
