A safety improvment design plan is being sought for Thompson's Cross in Kilcullen.
The design was being sought by Fine Gael councillor Tracey O'Dwyer at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting.
At this meeting, which took place on Wednesday, December 17 last, Cllr O'Dwyer asked Kildare County Council (KCC) the following question: "Can KCC confirm if a design and plan to address the ongoing issues at Thompson's Cross has been finalised?"
Cllr O'Dwyer previously raised the matter during the April MD meeting, in which she questioned the recommendations made by consultants who assessed the region.
In response, KCC told her via the report it presented at the meeting: "A design to improve the safety of Thompson's Cross is currently being developed."
KCC added that it is expected that the design will be finalised in Quarter 1 of 2026.
Cllr O'Dwyer subsequently told KCC that she accepted the report.
