Kildare County Council launches podcast series showcasing Climate Champions in Maynooth

Kildare County Council’s Climate Action Office is proud to announce the launch of the ‘Together for a Sustainable Future’ podcast series.  

This new audio-visual initiative shines a spotlight on the inspiring climate and biodiversity efforts taking place within the Maynooth Decarbonising Zone. 

The series features interviews with local community groups, businesses, and farmers who were recognised as DZ Climate Champions at the inaugural awards ceremony during Picnic in the Park, June 2025. 

Listeners will hear from:   

  • Maynooth Community Care Unit 

  • Maynooth Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) 

  • Norman Dunne, Farmer 

  • Trevor Harris, Farmer 

  • Maynooth Community Church

Podcast host Paul Regan, Decarbonising Officer, Kildare County Council, said: There is fantastic work happening in climate action, biodiversity and sustainability across the Maynooth DZ area and beyond. 

Through the DZ Climate Champions Awards Programme and this podcast, our goal is to promote and raise awareness of the tremendous efforts by educational institutes, community groups, businesses and farmers.

We hope these stories will inform and inspire others to get involved and take positive steps as we work together for a sustainable future.”
