Kildare Gardaí in Prosperous arrested a driver recently after the vehicle failed to stop when signalled and later crashed nearby.

Alcohol was a major factor in the incident, which Gardaí say could have had far more serious consequences.

The driver was uninjured, but investigations revealed they were driving without a licence, and the vehicle had no valid tax or NCT.

The driver was arrested at the scene and has been charged with drink driving and dangerous driving. The vehicle was also impounded. A court appearance is now pending.

Gardaí said it was fortunate no other road users were injured in the incident, but warned that drink driving continues to pose a serious risk to public safety.

“Alcohol destroys judgement and puts lives at risk,” a Kildare Garda spokesperson said. “This time, no one else was hurt. Next time, the outcome may not be so lucky.”

Gardaí are urging all motorists to slow down, stay sober, and drive responsibly.
