Traffic surveys for one Municipal District (MD) in County Kildare are due to recommence shortly.

That's according to Kildare County Council (KCC), which made the comments in response to a motion at the latest Celbridge-Leixlip MD meeting, which took place on Friday, January 16 last.

The subject of traffic surveys was initially raised by Fianna Fáil councillor David Trost, who asked KCC the following question: "Can KCC confirm if there is an update on the two speed checks that were approved in 2025 in this MD to be completed and the results made available?"

In response to his query, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "The traffic survey equipment has been returned to service."

"Traffic surveys will recommence in mid-January 2026."

KCC also asserted that the results will be shared with the MD members post-survey.

After receiving the report, Cllr Trost told KCC that he welcomed the news.

However, he also stressed: "We have been waiting a long time for this [development]."
