Kildare captain Laoise Lenehan gets away from Vikki Wall of Meath
The Kildare ladies face Cork this Sunday, January 25 in the first round of the Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 1. The fixture is set for a 2pm throw-in in Munster Technological University Arena.
Previous All-Ireland final referee and Carlow man Jonathan Murphy will take charge of the game as The Lilies get their 2026 campaign under way.
Manager Pat Sullivan, now in his second year in charge, has said that he is happy with where his squad his at despite the loss of experience with the retirement of Ellen Dowling and Claire Sullivan, as well as Róisín Byrne stepping away for a year and Grace Clifford's absence from the squad.
The Lilies that have been selected are looking to build on an impressive first year competing at the top level in both league and Championship simultaneously. Kildare remained in Division 1 after three wins from their seven games and, after a disappointing Leinster Championship, managed to reach an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quarter-final, losing out to then champions Kerry.
