Yesterday (Tuesday, January 20) after dealing with a breakdown and a collision on the N7, Naas Roads Policing Unit (#NaasRPU) were undertaken on three separate occasions by vehicles driving in the hard shoulder, in heavy traffic with driving conditions challenging and very wet.
An Garda Síochána Kildare would like to remind motorists that the hard shoulder is not an extra lane.
It is for emergencies and breakdowns only.
Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) and penalty points were issued.
A garda spokesperson said: “Misusing the hard shoulder endangers broken-down motorists and emergency services working at the roadside. Stay in your lane. Slow down. Arrive alive.”
